Kagen Votes To Help Businesses Create Jobs
Hire Act Also Releases Funds Allocated For Critical Transportation Projects In Our Communities

Congressman Steve Kagen, MD continues to work hard to help businesses create the jobs we need. Today, Dr. Kagen voted for the bipartisan jobs bill -- the HIRE Act- to spur private sector hiring and create help rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.

"Today's jobs bill invests in our nation's transportation systems and infrastructure, helping to restore our economy," said Dr. Kagen. "It also cuts taxes for small businesses by eliminating social security taxes on newly hired employees."

"There is still more to be done as we work our way back into prosperity, but this is a good start, and a bill that is paid for."

The Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act includes tax cuts to help small businesses invest, expand, and hire and retain more workers. It also includes provisions to make it easier for states to take up infrastructure projects such as school construction and energy retrofitting, and an extension of the Highway Trust Fund that allows for billions of dollars in infrastructure development around the country.

The fiscally responsible HIRE Act is completely paid for, fully complying with the Pay-As-You-Go budget rules enacted earlier this year.
